This man ignored his hernia for 3 years; came to us
his small intestines already gangrenous; we resected
5 feet from the ileum including the ileo-cecal junction
then performed ileo-ascending colon anastomosis.
This was the first time I saw an incarcerated hernia
with an unsavable bowel.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I am fortunate to spend Christmas eve at home this year. My heart goes to my friends who had to spend the night at the hospital. May God bless us all!

Anes Xmas Party: Matira Matibay

Can you believe these pictures were taken using my phone!? Nice huh :-) Anyway, today I attended the East Avenue Medical Center Department of Anesthesia Christmas Party : Matira Matibay Challenge at the La Mesa Eco Park. It was fun even if I had to go home by lunch time. Their program lasts the whole day but I'm tired (yes even if I just slept during duty) because I was from-duty. The eco-park is great! The Streisand tribute started with Queen Latifah sharing her thoughts about Ms. Streisand, a video about the contribution of Ms. Streisand to the arts, Miss Glen Close speaking about Streisand, tributes of song by Ms. Idina Menzel (Don't Rain on My Parade), Beyonce (The Way We Were), Ne-Yo (Lover Come Back to Me), and then Caroline Kennedy introducing Kelly O'Hara and Nathan Gunn with a Choir to sing the final song of Somewhere.

Can't wait to watch it on Dec. 30!
